Hypnotherapy for health & wellness
The mind influences the body in ways modern medicine has come to take seriously. Hypnotherapy is a gentle way of bringing that influence to the conditions you're living with.

Pain management & chronic pain
Pain can be debilitating, and over time it shapes not just what you do but how you feel about yourself. Hypnotherapy has some of the strongest evidence of any complementary approach for chronic pain, working with the way the brain processes and amplifies pain signals rather than the pain itself.
Sessions focus on turning down the intensity, settling the nervous system around it, improving sleep, and helping you do more of what matters with less interruption. Clients often describe the pain becoming smaller, quieter, or further away, even when the underlying condition hasn't changed.
This work is used alongside, not instead of, the medical care you're already receiving. Please continue working with your GP, specialists and pain team.

Auto-immune & health conditions
For conditions where stress and the nervous system play a real role, auto-immune conditions, skin issues, fibromyalgia, diabetes self-management and others, hypnotherapy can be a quiet but meaningful lever. The body and the mind are not two separate systems, and the subconscious has a surprising amount of influence over what's happening underneath.
The work is about retraining the responses that have become unhelpful, building resilience to stress, and shifting the belief systems and language patterns that keep the body braced. It won't replace medication or specialist care, but it can change how you experience the condition and how much of your daily life it takes up.

Menopause & hormonal changes
Hypnotherapy is well-researched for menopause, particularly for hot flushes, sleep disruption and mood shifts. For many women it's a gentle alternative or complement to HRT and other medical support, especially during the years when everything seems to be in motion at once.
Hormones are chemical messengers that influence sleep, mood, energy, stress and how the body stores and uses fuel. When they're shifting, life can feel harder for reasons that aren't obvious. Sessions focus on encouraging the body's own rebalancing, softening the symptoms that are loudest, and supporting the lifestyle changes that tend to help, without making them feel like another pressure.
The same work is useful through peri-menopause, post-menopause and other times of hormonal change.

IBS & gut health
Gut issues are on the rise, and we now know it isn't only about what we eat. Stress, thinking patterns and lifestyle habits all play a part. IBS in particular varies hugely from person to person, with a digestive tract that has become sensitive and a nervous system that fires the alarm too easily.
Hypnotherapy for the gut is one of the better-studied applications, working with the gut-brain connection to quieten the alarm, settle the pain gate, and change how the body responds to ordinary food and ordinary life. The aim is to feel more in control, more comfortable, and less ruled by symptoms.
Sessions also gently cover the emotional weight that often sits alongside long-running gut issues, the planning around food, the social cost, the frustration of flares that don't follow rules.

Children's issues
Children tend to respond beautifully to hypnotherapy. Their imaginations are vivid, they haven't yet built up the layers of grown-up scepticism, and they often shift quickly when given the right tools. Sleep troubles, fears and phobias, confidence, exam nerves and bed-wetting are some of the most common reasons families come in.
Sessions are age-appropriate and parent-supported. Younger children stay in the room with a parent throughout; older children and teenagers can choose how much support they'd like in the session. The work is light, often playful, and tailored to what the child is comfortable with.
A note: hypnotherapy is used alongside, not instead of, medical treatment, for adults and children alike. Please continue to work with your GP, paediatrician and any specialists involved.
Health & Wellness pathway
A focused four to five session pathway that combines hypnotherapy with practical mind-body tools, tailored to the condition you're working with, pain, hormones, gut, immune or children's issues.
In this pathway you will
- Reduce the intensity and impact of pain or symptoms
- Settle the stress response that's feeding into the condition
- Shift the thinking and language that keep the body braced
- Support the lifestyle changes that tend to help, without forcing them
- Feel more in control of your body and your day again
Sessions are relaxed and conversational, used alongside the medical care you're already receiving. Available in clinic in New Plymouth or online across NZ.
