Stress & tension

Stress is a normal part of daily life, it's the physical response that gets us out of bed, off to work, and through the things we need to do. A little stress is healthy.

Good stress is the kind you feel at a favourite sporting event or a big night out, excitement, adrenaline, a buzz that fades the next day with no lingering tension. Bad stress is different. Moving house, ill health, relationship or family issues, bereavement, bullying, losing or starting a job, these events pass, but they leave residual tension behind in both the mind and the body.

Residual tension in the mind affects how we think, foggy or illogical thinking, negative thoughts, indecision, poor concentration. Residual tension in the body can show up as a breakdown in everyday functions: digestion, immunity, sleep, the nervous system and more.

Anxiety, panic attacks & mild depression

Long-term stress and tension can tip into anxiety, mild depression, or what we now commonly call burn-out.

Mild depression can feel like a down patch, being stuck in a bit of a hole, struggling to see the bright side, or finding it hard to function day to day. Anxiety often shows up physically, tightness in the chest, a thumping or racing heart, hot flushes, shortness of breath, and panic attacks. It can also look like over-working, a short temper, or chasing perfection.

How hypnotherapy helps

Over many years in practice, Sheryl has worked with clients experiencing anxiety, panic and low mood. The first step is calming the tension in the mind. A calmer mind thinks more clearly, concentrates better, makes decisions more easily, and is far less likely to spiral into fear, worry or over-analysis.

From there, we build on self-worth and self-beliefyour inner confidence and positivity. When you feel better about yourself, you're better equipped and more motivated to move toward your goals, and the future starts to feel hopeful again.

Sheryl believes in empowering clients with their own tools, so newfound calm and positivity last. As part of your sessions she'll teach you simple skills in self-hypnosis and positive self-talk that you can use any time.

Take control of stress & worry

Just 15 minutes of genuine relaxation can be hugely beneficial. Get in touch for a confidential, no-obligation phone consultation and to ask about Sheryl's complimentary relaxation recording, designed to help you settle the mind and body in your own time.

Please note: hypnotic recordings should never be used while driving, operating machinery or walking around, and are not suitable for anyone with a serious mental illness such as schizophrenia, bi-polar or clinical depression.
