The body keeps the record

The mind and body are one conversation. When we hold stress, grief or unprocessed experience for long enough, the body keeps the record, in tight shoulders, locked jaws, shallow breath, a back that won't quite settle.

Body therapy meets you there, gently. Rather than overriding what the body is doing, it works alongside it, so the nervous system has a chance to soften and release in its own time.

Ortho-Bionomy

Ortho-Bionomy is a refined, comfortable bodywork modality that works with the body rather than against it. Instead of pushing tight muscles to release, the practitioner subtly positions the body in ways that signal safety to the nervous system, and the tension lets go on its own.

It's quiet, slow work, and surprisingly effective. Most people feel a noticeable shift during the session and continue to settle in the day or two afterwards.

What body therapy helps with

Ortho-Bionomy and Reiki suit people who'd like results without force, and they work especially well for the kinds of tension that haven't shifted with stronger bodywork.

  • Chronic muscle tension and postural strain
  • Lingering injury patterns and stiffness
  • Stress held in the body, neck, shoulders, jaw, lower back
  • Recovery and integration after emotional or therapeutic work
  • People who don't get on well with more forceful bodywork

Reiki

Reiki is a quiet, hands-on (or hands-near) energy practice that supports the body's own settling and recovery. It complements hypnotherapy and counselling beautifully, many clients book a Reiki session after deeper emotional work to help everything integrate.

Please note: body therapy is available in-clinic in New Plymouth only. Online sessions aren't possible for this work.

I would like to sing from the rooftops my happiness over going to Sheryl for Ortho-Bionomy treatment.

I had suffered with a bad upper back for weeks, and no amount of painkillers or physio could alleviate my 24/7 pain.

After just ONE session I felt 90% better. She recommended a second, and she was right. Within 2-3 days of the second appointment, the pain had gone — within the time frame she outlined to me.

Sheryl was calm, patient, professional and knowledgeable. She explained what she was doing at each stage, and why it was important to my body.

I HIGHLY recommend her therapy. You won't regret the visit!
